Financial Aid and Scholarship Information:

If you receive financial aid from CU-Boulder, you will normally be able to apply that aid to program costs. Your financial need will be based on the total cost estimate for your study abroad program. Study abroad scholarships, awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, are available from CU-Boulder. For additional information see the Financial Information page.

There are several scholarships you may be eligible to apply for. We particularly recommend these:

(1) CU-Boulder study abroad scholarship: This scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need. Click here to apply.
(2) SIT scholarships: Download an application for the following scholarships on the SIT Scholarship page: The Compton Fund (programs with environmental, peace studies, or sustainable development themes); SIT Asia Fund (for China, Mongolia and Vietnam programs); The Workum Fund (for India, Nepal, and Tibetan Studies programs); Sally Bragg Baker Scholarship (for female participants in any program).

(3) Boren Awards for International Study (NSEP): for study in world regions critical to U.S. interests (non-traditional locations). An informational meeting is often held in October, and the CU-Boulder campus deadline is typically in late January - check the Scholarships page of the Financial Info. webpage for the exact deadline. For tips on applying to the Boren, please click here  You can also find more information at www.borenawards.org
(4) Bardoli Global is a social enterprise organization which offers scholarships and support for minority students embarking on international exchange and study abroad programs.  They specifically partner with the School for International Training (SIT).  See their website for more details about the program and scholarships: http://www.bardoliglobal.org/.

Applying
to the Program:
To apply to a CU-Boulder program you must first complete an online advising form.  Click here to login and complete the form.

Be aware that SIT programs often fill before the CU-Boulder study abroad deadline. As such, we encourage early applications. You may check the fill status at any time for your program on the SIT website.

Study Abroad Programs puts a high priority on serving a diverse student body. We welcome applications from members of various groups which have traditionally been underrepresented in study abroad programs, including racial and ethnic minorities, GLBT students, students with disabilities, and older students who have followed nontraditional paths to higher education.

The visa process for this country may be lengthy and/or require significant advance preparation. Please refer to the visa information on our website at http://studyabroad.colorado.edu/?go=visas to determine (1) where, (2) when and (3) how to apply for a visa for this country. Although you cannot apply for a visa until you have been accepted to a program, it is important to be familiar with the process when choosing a program.
